Sangareddy: Proving that marriage and job is no obstacle in the learning process, a woman constable, who is the mother of three children, has won the State level essay competition conducted by the Telangana Police department on the eve of Police Commemoration Day, three times in a row.
Appreciating her achievement, district Superintendent of Police M Ramana Kumar presented Rs 20,000 cash prize and a certificate to Aruna Kumari at his office. “I am surprised to know that Aruna Kumari had won the award three consecutive times since 2019”, the SP said and asked her to write competitive examinations to get into better jobs.
Aruna Kumari (31), a 2009 batch constable, had written the essay on the topic of “How to use social media to the advantage of Police”. Dozens of constables, Head Constables, Assistant Sub-inspectors from across Telangana had competed in the examination. The screening committee selected three to five essays from every district to State-level screening committee, which again selected Aruna Kumari as the winner for the third consecutive time.
In 2019, she had won the competition organised on the theme of “Changes in Policing since Telangana was formed” and in 2020, she had won the competition organised on the topic of “Policing During Covid-19 Times”.
Speaking to Telangana Today, Aruna Kumari said that she loves to read and write from childhood. The woman constable, who works as a receptionist in Sadasaivpet police station said that she had cracked the police recruitment examination in 2009 when she was in her degree first year. Despite being busy with professional and personal life, Aruna a mother of three children, had said that she continued her passion for reading and writing. She even had completed her graduation, which she discontinued after landing the job, in distance education.
Saying that constant support from her husband, who is a private employee, and her senior officers kept her motivated, Aruna has said that the three awards in a row had given the belief that she still had something in her to perform. The woman constable said that she will prepare for competitive examinations. DSP (Special Branch) Srinivas Naidu, DSP (Sangareddy) A Balaji and other higher officials appreciated Aruna.
