Siddipet: In a tragic incident, a mother died along with her son while trying to save him and another child in a check dam at Kasturipally village in Chinnakodur mandal on Saturday evening.
They were identified as Uma Devi (32), her son Kiran Kumar (12) and their relative Munjei Birju (6).
According to the police, Uma Devi’s and Birju’s family had come to Kasturipally from Bihar just five days ago in search of livelihood. The two children, who ventured into the check dam in a playful mood, began drowning, following which Uma Devi rushed in to rescue them. The three drowned before help could reach them.
Locals retrieved the bodies. The police registered a case and shifted the bodies to Government Hospital in Siddipet for postmortem.
