Woman electrocuted while using immersion water heater in Medipally

A 40-year-old woman, Swathi, died of electrocution while using an immersion water heater at her residence in Peerzadiguda, Medipally. She accidentally came into contact with water while the heater was switched on, resulting in instant death.

Hyderabad: A 40-year-old woman died after suffering an electric shock while using an immersion water heater at her residence in Peerzadiguda in Medipally on Monday.

The victim was identified as D Swathi, a native of Bhongir, who was living with her husband Srinivas and their three children in Mallikarjuna Nagar. Srinivas works at a printing press in Cherlapally.

According to the police, around evening, Swathi allegedly slipped accidentally, and her hand came into contact with the water in the bucket while the heater was still switched on, resulting in a severe electric shock.

The impact of the shock was so intense that she died on the spot.

Police said parts of her body also sustained burn injuries due to the electrical current. Neighbours noticed smoke coming from the house and rushed inside, where they found Swathi in a burnt condition. They immediately alerted the police.

The Medipally police reached the spot and took up investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the fatal accident.
