Hyderabad: A woman, working for a reputed pharma company in Yadadri-Bhongir district, was cheated by unidentified persons who promised her a job in Australia.

The victim, who is working in a good position in the administration wing of the pharma firm, as part of her plans to work abroad had posted her profile seeking suitable jobs in various job portals.

According to the Rachakonda Cybercrime police, she recently received a call from an international number from an unidentified person, offering a job with a good salary in a top company in Australia. He convinced her saying she had all the qualities and requirements to apply for the job.

“Believing it to be true, the victim fell into the trap and in instalments, paid Rs.10 lakh to the suspect into his bank account towards processing fee and other expenses. As the caller continued to demand more, she approached the police,” officials said.

The Cybercrime police suspect that gangs from North India or Nigeria could be behind the fraud. The bank accounts in which the amount was deposited are based in north India, police said.
