Woman injured in minor explosion in Hyderabad’s Balanagar

Hyderabad: A woman suffered minor injuries in an explosion from a container which she found in a garbage at Ranga Reddy Nagar in Balanagar on Thursday.
The incident occurred when she tried to open a container. As per available information, the woman, identified as Neelamma (35), was clearing the garbage heaps in the colony. While collecting scrap material, she found a small container, which had some unidentified chemical substance.
She reportedly picked up the box and stamped on it, leading to an explosion. She suffered minor burns on her legs. Those who came along with her heard the explosion and rushed to her rescue, and first-aid was administered. Her condition was stated to be stable.
The incident triggered mild panic in the colony, with residents fearing it was a bomb blast. On receiving information, the Balanagar police reached the spot and examined it. They were enquiring with the local residents apart from examining footage from surveillance cameras in the surroundings.
Officials said the substance would be identified after the forensic examination.
