Mancherial: A woman from Rebbena in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district was reportedly assaulted and robbed of money and her mobile phone by three unidentified men in the forests of Tekumatla village in Jaipur mandal on Wednesday. The incident came to light on Thursday.
Police said the woman and her friend from Godarikhani were attacked by the three persons who were consuming liquor at a secluded place at Tekumatla on Wednesday evening. The miscreants then robbed Rs 4,000 and a mobile phone from the two. The woman’s friend had stopped at the place to attend to nature’s call at the time of the incident. They were on their way to Rebbena.
Based on a complaint from the woman, a case was registered and investigations were taken up. Earlier, it was alleged that the woman was gang-raped by the three. Reports on the same had gone viral on social media platforms. However, police denied that she was raped.
