Sangareddy: Driven by ill-health of her children and pecuniary problems, a housewife strangled her two children and then attempted to end her life in Shanthi Nagar here on Friday. The woman, however, survived the suicide attempt after fishermen rescued her from the Mahabub Sagar Tank into which she took a plunge, police said. The children were identified as Rudransh (6) and Vedansh (4).
Town Inspector B Ramesh said Joythsna was married to Shiva Shanakar of Adilabad district who was a cashier in Indian Bank in Sangareddy. As they were providing treatment to children in a corporate hospital in Hyderabad, the prolonged illness pushed the couple into serious financial problems.

While Rudransh was suffering from kidney ailment, Vedansh was suffering from various other health issues. When Shiva Shankar left for duty on Friday, Joythsna killed both the children and left for the Mahabub Sagar tank. Before jumping into the tank, she took a selfie and shared it with her husband, who rushed to Mahabub Sagar. However, she had jumped into the tank before he had arrived, but the local fishermen had rescued her. Sangareddy town Police have registered a case. The bodies of children have been shifted to Government Hospital Sangareddy for the postmortem.
