Hyderabad: Around half-a-dozen cases were registered by the Cybercrime police of Hyderabad against persons for abusing and threatening women who reportedly failed to clear loans they had obtained through instant loan applications.
The cases were registered in the last two months following complaints by the victims who were abused by the callers and threatened over phones. The victims, mostly women, had directly obtained loans of small amounts through mobile based instant loan applications.
“Cases were registered against the persons for abusing and threatening the women in vulgar language. Special teams were formed to track down the persons and nab them,” said a senior official of Hyderabad Cybercrime police station.
The police found the calls originated from different towns and cities in Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharashtra. The police invoked sections of Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act against the stalkers.
