Hyderabad: The South Central Railway (SCR) on Tuesday conducted a series of meetings with Members of Parliament from Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra belonging to Secunderabad and Hyderabad divisional jurisdiction to discuss railway projects at Rail Nilayam.
General Manager, SCR, Gajanan Mallya apprised the MPs regarding the progress of the ongoing railway projects including electrification, new line works, doubling and third line works. The GM informed the attending MPs that Kazipet – Balharshah third line project, Kazipet – Vijayawada line, Manoharabad – Gajwel – Kothapalli Newline, Akkanapeta – Medak new line and Falaknuma – Dhone doubling project are in fast progress.
In the meeting, the services rendered by SCR during the pandemic such as operating migrant special trains, parcel special trains were also discussed. The GM informed that 85 per cent of the mail/express trains, 55 MMTS trains and 85 passenger trains have been restarted in the zone and more services will be restored in a phased manner.
The MPs complimented the SCR for its excellent service and raised several demands related to the construction of new railway lines, redevelopment of stations, provision of passenger amenities, additional stoppages etc.
The SCR officials assured that their valuable input will be given due consideration while formulating the proposals for new works. Heads of various departments and DRMs of Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Nanded, Guntur and Guntakal Divisions were present.
