Yadadri Bhuvanagiri: Six arrested in Turkapally for digging near temple in search of treasure
Six persons were arrested in Turkapally, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, for illegally digging near a Hanuman temple in search of a hidden treasure trove. Police seized an excavator machine, a car, and pooja articles during the raid.
Hyderabad: Six persons who had dug up an open ground near a temple in anticipation of a hidden treasure trove at Turkapally in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri were arrested by the Turkapally police on Saturday. The police seized an earth excavator machine, a car and some pooja articles.
The arrested persons are P Kumara Swamy, R Krishna Kishore, P Srinivas, A Narsimha, T Krishna Kanth and P Venu.
According to Mohammed Taqiuddin, Sub-Inspector of Turkapally police station, the six individuals had gathered near a Hanuman temple and started digging the earth with the help of an excavator machine. “A priest from Vijayawada, who was part of the gang, was guiding them in hunting the treasure trove,” said the Sub-Inspector.
The gang, during questioning, told the police that they were digging around the temple for the last ten days. “We suspect they were doing it for a longer time. We are still investigating the case,” said Taqiuddin.
The police, acting on a tip off about unusual activity near the temple, raided the place and caught the six persons. A case has been registered.
