Nalgonda: Former Government Whip G Sunitha Mahender Reddy on Tuesday alleged that Congress MLA from Alair Beerla Ilaiah was threatening BRS candidates to withdraw their nominations and resorting to undemocratic practices out of fear of defeat in the municipal elections.
She alleged that the Congress MLA was intimidating the BRS candidate and other Independent candidates over the phone in Ward No. 12 within the Yadagirigutta municipality limits. Beerla Ilaiah should mend his ways, she said while speaking to media persons in Yadagirigutta town on Tuesday.
The former Whip also charged that despite 3 pm. being the stipulated deadline for withdrawal of nominations, the time was extended till 4.30 pm.
“Elections are supposed to be conducted in a democratic way but a few officials were violating rules. We have no confidence that these elections will be held in a free and fair manner,” Sunitha Reddy said, adding that a complaint would be lodged with the District Collector.
