Yashoda Hospitals launches brain stroke awareness programme
On World Brain Stroke Day, Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar and Yashoda Hospitals' Dr. Pawan Gorukanti launched a program to raise awareness about brain stroke. Sajjanar highlighted the importance of early recognition of symptoms, while Dr. Gorukanti introduced the mechanical thrombectomy treatment, a breakthrough in stroke management.

Hyderabad: On the occasion of ‘World Brain Stroke Day,’ Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar along with Yashoda Hospitals Group Director, Dr. Pawan Gorukanti inaugurated a Brain Stroke Awareness Program organized by Secunderabad Yashoda Hospitals, on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Sajjanar stressed the importance of recognising the symptoms of stroke, as immediate medical help can save lives and prevent permanent disability. “According to the latest statistics, approximately 1.8 million new cases of brain stroke are reported in India every year and in the last 30 years, new cases have increased by 51%,” he said.
Dr. Pavan Gorukanti spoke about a new treatment technique called ‘mechanical thrombectomy’ for brain stroke treatment which is saving many patients from disability and death. “Mechanical thrombectomy procedure helps in clearing the clots in the blood vessels, restoring blood flow to the brain. Yashoda Hospitals is at the forefront of providing this treatment,” he added.
The program was attended by neurologist, Dr.R.N. Komal Kumar, senior neurosurgeon, Dr. Ayyadurai, Secunderabad Yashoda Hospital Unit Head, Dr. Vijay Kumar.
