Hyderabad: This November, Young Birders’ Month (YBM), a first-of-its-kind nationwide initiative, will open new ways for Children to explore the Natural World through Bird Walks, Games, Quizzes, and other engaging activities.
The initiative, led by members of Early Bird and WWF-India, aims to spark Ecological Awareness among Young People while creating a platform for Nature Educators to amplify their work and connect with a wider audience. November also marks the arrival of Migratory Birds across the country and includes the Birth Anniversary of Dr Salim Ali (November 12) and Children’s Day (November 14).
Conservation Organizations, Local Birding Groups, Schools, and Nature Educators nationwide can participate by hosting Bird-Themed Events for Young People. These can be in-person or online—ranging from Bird Walks, Art Workshops, and Storytelling Sessions to Webinars, Quizzes, and Competitions. Interested participants can submit event details via the ‘Host an Event’ page on the website: https://youngbirders.in/host-events/.
Farida Tampal, State Director, WWF-India, said, “Young Birders’ Month is more than a celebration of birds—it’s a celebration of curiosity, connection, and care for the natural world.”
Garima Bhatia, Programme Manager, Early Bird, added, “We are delighted to announce the launch of Young Birders’ Month on the occasion of National Wildlife Week—a fitting time to inspire educators to celebrate India’s biodiversity with children.
