Nalgonda: A young mother staged a protest outside her lover’s residence, demanding justice after he allegedly abandoned her following the birth of their child. The victim, identified as Renuka, a resident of Nellibanda village, recounted her ordeal to local media on Sunday.
According to her, she was in love with a man from the same village, who repeatedly assured her of marriage and exploited her sexually.
Renuka gave birth to a baby girl, but her joy was short-lived. ‘After the child was born, he stopped caring for us,” Renuka said.
“He married another woman and left us to fend for ourselves. I have been struggling alone with our daughter, and he has extended no support”, she said.
In a desperate bid to seek justice, Renuka sat on a dharna in front of the man’s house, drawing the attention of villagers and passersby. Holding her infant daughter, she publicly accused him of betrayal and wanted him to fulfill his promises. The protest quickly escalated, prompting the intervention of village elders to mediate.
Sources indicate that a panchayat is being convened to resolve the dispute amicably and explore options for the child’s welfare. As of now, no formal police complaint has been filed, and the matter remains in the hands of local leaders.
