Karimnagar: Members of youth associations staged a maha dharna at Gundlapalli chowk in Ganneruvaram mandal on Rajiv Rahadari on Sunday, demanding the laying of a double road from Gundlapalli to Ganneruvaram.

They raised slogans against local MLA Dr Kavvampalli Satyanarayana, accusing him of neglecting the road issue despite highlighting it during the election campaign and completing two years in office.

Residents said they continued to face hardships travelling on the damaged stretch, yet the MLA showed little concern even after receiving repeated representations. Road works have remained incomplete three years after they were sanctioned.

During the election campaign, Satyanarayana had promised to complete the road within six months if elected. Protesters alleged that the assurance was forgotten once he became MLA.

Reacting to the MLA’s latest statement that work would resume within 15 days, the agitating youth demanded he fulfil his promise by immediately restarting the project. They also sought the construction of high-level bridges at low-level culverts, failing which Satyanarayana should resign from his post, they said.
