Two trucks and a bus damaged in a road accident at Konijerla in Khammam on Sunday.
Kothagudem: A youth was killed and two others were injured in a road accident near Jandalavagu in Yellandu mandal in the district on Sunday.
The deceased, Yetti Naresh (27) of Lachagudem in the mandal died on the spot when the motorbike he was travelling on was hit by a mini-truck, carrying shamiana material of Varalaxmi event organisers after Bhadradri Mukkoti celebrations from Bhadrachalam to Vemulawada.
The accident occurred when Naresh tried to avoid hitting a buffalo on the Yellandu-Mahabubabad road. The local CI, Bathula Satyanarayana registered a case and took up an investigation into the incident.
In another road accident at Konijerla in Khammam district, a sand lorry hit a private bus carrying nearly 50 passengers and then collided with another truck coming in the opposite direction. The passengers, onboard the bus going to Malkangiri in Odisha from Hyderabad, were safe.
Drivers of both trucks suffered injuries. The trucks and the bus were damaged in the accident that caused a traffic jam on the Khammam- Kothagudem road for over three hours.
The convoys of ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Tummala Nageswara Rao were caught up in the traffic jam.
