Hyderabad: Under a special drive against dilapidated buildings, the GHMC demolished 175 structures and the drive will continue, officials said. The civic body also ensured repairs for 84 structurally unfit buildings and urged people to cooperate with them while the drive is underway in order to avoid untoward incidents.

Apart from razing dilapidated buildings, relocation of their residents, sealing of buildings, barricading around the structure and serving notices were few other activities taken up pertaining to dilapidated buildings in GHMC limits.

“People whose houses are prone to inundation will be relocated to safer places. If needed we will identify shelter homes or buildings in every circle,” said Mayor G Vijaya Laxmi. She directed the officials to keep 200 motors on standby to pump out water, discussed precautions with GHMC Commissioner DS Lokesh Kuamar and inspected the command control room on Friday. The civic body received 292 rain related complaints till evening.

Citizens aired their grievances by dialing GHMC land line number – 040 241111111, dial 100 and MY GHMC App.
