Hyderabad: An 18-month-old toddler, who sustained grievous head injuries after falling from the second floor of the house while playing, made a miraculous recovery, following an emergency brain surgery at Renovo Hospitals, Sanathnagar.
The toddler, who was brought to the hospital in a state of coma, was put under the care of a medical team led by senior neurosurgeon, Dr Naveen Reddy and neonatologist Dr. Surya Prakash Hedda.
Apart from head injury, the boy also had injuries to other parts of the body due to the fall. “After a series of tests, we decided to conduct an emergency brain surgery and put the child on ventilator support. While he was undergoing treatment for neurological and other medical issues, we roped-in a physiotherapist to provide care,” Dr Naveen said.
Intensive care, continuous observation and timely treatment interventions helped the child recover fast. Senior physiotherapist, Dr Shruthi said that despite the severity of the fall, the child recovered quickly and his movements of limbs and other body parts improved.
The hospital also treated a 6-year-old boy diagnosed with a large brain tumour who after an emergency brain surgery, made complete recovery.
