264 caught for harassing women at Hyderabad’s Numaish
The Hyderabad She Teams, as part of heightened women’s safety measures during the 85th Nampally Exhibition, apprehended 264 individuals for harassment and misconduct. Continuous surveillance and decoy operations were conducted from January 1 to February 15.
Hyderabad: As part of intensified women’s safety measures during the 85th Nampally Exhibition, the Hyderabad She Teams have caught a total of 264 individuals for alleged women’s harassment and misconduct.
The special teams conducted continuous surveillance and decoy operations at the exhibition grounds from January 1 to February 15. Of those caught, 242 were adults and 22 were minors.
Police said 188 offenders were counselled in the presence of their family members and released with a warning. Petty cases were registered against 56 persons for serious misbehaviour.
So far, 52 offenders have been fined Rs 1,050 each, while four were awarded two days of imprisonment along with a Rs 1,000 fine. The remaining cases are pending before the court.
In addition to enforcement, the teams organised extensive awareness drives at the exhibition venue, educational institutions and other public places.
Observation checks were conducted in crowded and sensitive areas, and audio-visual campaign vehicles were deployed to spread awareness on women’s safety and cybercrime prevention.
