Bengaluru: A devastating explosion at a residential house in Shriram Colony, Chinnayyanapalya, has resulted in the death of an 8-year-old boy and left 12 others injured. The tragic incident, which occurred on August 15, has been attributed by police to a suspected LPG cylinder blast, though local residents remain skeptical about the cause.
The deceased boy has been identified as Mubarak. The blast caused significant damage, with the roof and walls of the first-floor home collapsing and affecting more than eight neighboring houses. The injured, who include Kasturamma (35), Sarasamma (50), Shabirana Banu (35), Subramani (62), Sheikh Najeed Ullah (37), and an 8-year-old girl named Fathima, were rushed to Sanjay Gandhi and Jayanagar hospitals for treatment.
Adugodi police officials, who visited the site, have stated that a cooking gas cylinder explosion is the most likely cause based on their initial assessment. However, locals have voiced their doubts, describing the blast as unusually powerful and unlike a typical cylinder explosion. They noted that many residents were fortunate to have left for work at Lalbagh early in the morning, which likely prevented a higher number of casualties.
The incident has left the neighborhood in a state of shock and panic. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the explosion and the nature of the “suspicious object” mentioned by some residents.
