Relatives of two brain-dead persons donated the organs of the deceased under Jeevandan organ donation initiative

Hyderabad: Relatives of two brain-dead persons, 58-year-old housewife Muthuluru Krishna Kumar, a resident of Raghavendra Nagar, Peerzadiguda, and 27-year-old Pallapu Prashanth, a resident of Katepally Chada, Atmakur, Nalgonda, have donated the organs of the deceased under Jeevandan organ donation initiative.
On December 5, Prashanth, a farmer, was travelling on his two-wheeler and accidentally collided with a divider at Bhongir. He was rushed to a local private hospital and later to a corporate hospital in Hyderabad, where he was in ICU treatment. On December 8, at around 5.30 pm, the doctors declared Prashanth brain dead.
The brain-dead victim’s wife, Pallapu Deepa, gave consent to donate his organs. A total of four organs, two kidneys, the liver and the heart were donated to needy patients.
Housewife Muthuluru Krishna Kumari had recently undergone craniotomy surgery. Subsequently, she collapsed from a brain stroke at her home. The family members rushed her to a private hospital, where she underwent emergency treatment. With her condition not improving, the doctors declared her brain dead on December 8.
Her sons, including M. Vishnu Narayana and M. Lakshmi Narayana, gave consent to donate her organs. In all, five organs, including two kidneys, the liver and two corneas were donated.
