Hyderabad: To stay relevant in these uncertain times and still work in the sector of their interest, Hyderabad-based Startoon Labs is offering other services in the same sector. Founded by husband-wife duo Susurala VS Suresh and Mythreyi Kondapi, the medical devices company has launched a first-of-its-kind platform for physiotherapists and a referral-based patient care platform. Branded as BornPhysio, the platform provides career counseling, certification-based training, and guidance to aspiring physiotherapy students and experienced professionals.

“As soon as the pandemic struck, we realised that our medical devices unit may not work in the long term and also, on the other hand, we saw many physiotherapists struggling to get employed. Keeping all this in mind, we thought of launching a platform for physiotherapists that will help in getting career guidance, get upskilled and also help them in gaining knowledge about the emerging trends in the field,” said Kondapi, who has been seeing good traction in the platform for the last one year.

Other than helping professionals get upskilled in the field, the platform also works for Covid recovered patients. By collaborating with hospitals and doctors, through reference the platform helps Covid recovered patients in breathing exercises and also connects them with experts on any simple exercises to be performed at home.

“We are also collaborating with colleges offering physiotherapy courses to provide students with webinars on relevant topics from the field. We are also connecting with the student community to help them in getting jobs or on-board them as our in-house consultants on our platform,” said Kondapi and adds that the platform BornPhysio has on boarded 600 physiotherapists since its launch.

The parent company, Startoon Labs’ first product Pheeze helps in remote physiotherapy sessions of the patients and through Bluetooth connectivity, it can show the range of motion and detect muscle strength of the patient based on the data fed into the system by the doctor. “Using this product, we are planning to tele-physiotherapy for patients wherein the consultant can track the patients progress through our device,” said Kondapi. The company has recently closed an angel round of funding and is planning to raise more funding shortly.
