Mancherial: Believe it or not, an old abandoned tiled house in Boyapalli, a sleepy village in Thandur mandal of the district, has become the hot-spot for unemployed youngsters taking a shot at the examinations for State government jobs. The local belief is that the house works as a good luck charm for the youngsters since many who burnt the midnight oil there landed government jobs in the past decade.
With Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s recent announcement of taking up a recruitment drive to fill 80,039 vacant posts, the local youth have started making a beeline to this house owned by Puli Rajamallu. The kind-hearted soul, who moved into a new house, is more than happy to have the youth prepare for the exams in his old two-bedroom house, which is now equipped with books and study material donated by several persons. No wonder then the youngsters call it the poor man’s study centre!
The belief about the house being lucky began with five youngsters who used the house for the first time years ago landed government jobs in their very first attempt. Since then, at least 55 youth have successfully cracked the examinations for government jobs. Rajamallu himself landed a job with the Indian Postal department. Those who secured jobs voluntarily guide the aspirants and jobseekers weekly once in the house for free. They motivate the candidates and share insights with them in achieving their ambitions.
Induri Santhosh, a jobless youth of Boyapalli told Telangana Today that he started preparing at this house for the forthcoming examinations. “The house is a symbol of inspiration and motivation for youngsters to achieve their goals. It has become a study centre,” he said.
