Adilabad: Tribal rights organisation, Tudumdebba demanded that seer Chinna Jeeyar Swamy be booked under SC, ST Prevention of Atrocities Act for his reported derogatory comments against tribal deities Sammakka-Saralamma.
Speaking to pressmen here on Thursday, Tudumdebba district president G Ganesh deplored Jeeyar Swamy for commenting on the tribal deities that symbolize self-respect of the aboriginal tribals. He wanted an unconditional apology to the tribals for hurting their sentiments. Else, they would intensify their struggle, he warned.
The district president alleged that the seer encroached thousands of acres of government land and that he had no right to comment on the deities. He stated that Jeeyar Swamy would not be tolerated if he continued to belittle the traditions and religious affairs of the ethnic tribes. He demanded that the government take stern action against him by registering a case against him under SC, ST Prevention of Atrocities Act and arrest him immediately.
