Afzalgunj police to file PT warrant for suspects in Roshan Travels shooting case

Afzalgunj police are set to seek custody of two suspects arrested in Bihar in connection with the Roshan Travels shooting case of January last year. The duo, also accused in a major ATM robbery in Bidar, are currently in judicial custody in Karnataka.

Hyderabad: The Afzalgunj police are preparing to seek the custody of two key suspects allegedly involved in the Roshan Travels shooting case in January last year, after they were arrested in Bihar by Karnataka police on Wednesday.

The suspects, identified as Manish Kushwaha and Amit Kumar, were traced to Bihar and taken into custody. They are currently in judicial custody in Karnataka.

Afzalgunj Inspector N. Mohan Rao said police will first complete the local proceedings and subsequently file a Prisoner Warrant petition to bring the duo to Hyderabad for questioning. “Their questioning is expected to provide further leads in the sensational shooting case,” he said.

The two are also accused in the January 2025 Bidar ATM cash robbery, in which Rs 93 lakh was looted, security guard Giri Venkatesh was shot dead and another guard, Shivakumar, was injured.

Police suspect that the duo travelled to Hyderabad the same day and went to Roshan Travels in Afzalgunj to book tickets to Raipur. When employee Mohammed Jahangir questioned them after noticing bundles of cash in their luggage, one of the suspects allegedly opened fire, injuring him.

Hyderabad police had been tracking the suspects across several States and had earlier suspected that they may have fled towards Nepal.
