Warangal Urban: Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) will revolutionise the lives of mankind soon, said Prof NV Ramana Rao, Director, National Institute of Technology (NIT)-Warangal on Monday, stressing the need for digital education for all.

Speaking after inaugurating a five-day online faculty development programme (FDP) — Next-generation computing: Machine learning and deep learning — under the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), he said ‘digital revolution’ was on its way, with AI and IoT connecting everything from doorbells to kitchen appliances.

“Now-decades-long digital age and technology keep advancing, and digital literacy is more than just knowing to use a web browser or navigate basic software. It’s being empowered to use digital tools enabling students to solve problems, create innovative projects and enhance communications to prepare for the challenges of an evolving workplace. Digital literacy starts as students think critically and creatively, solve problems, collaborate effectively, communicate with impact,” he said.

“Across all educational disciplines, from mathematics and engineering to language, social sciences, and business, when students are digitally literate, they become thoughtful consumers of digital content, effective and collaborative creators of digital content and problem-solvers who are prepared to make social contributions to society,” he explained.

CCE In-charge and coordinator Dr Raju Bhukya said machine learning and deep learning had applications in healthcare, language translations, financial analytics and precision farming etc.
