Mulugu: All arrangements including the formation of 30 special medical teams are in place for the official launch of the pilot project of Telangana Health Profile in the district on Saturday which is aimed at preparing a digital data bank of the health ailments of the people in the district. Health Minister T Harish Rao will visit the district and launch the project at the Government Area Hospital here on Saturday.
Speaking to ‘Telangana Today’, District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) Dr Allam Appaiah said that they had begun the dry-run of the health profile project on Thursday by forming as many as 30 teams in the district. “While we have decided to press a total of 190 teams into the job of collecting the details of the people and sending the blood samples as a part of the preparation of the Health Profile project, in the first phase, 30 teams have been formed under the limits of 15 Primary Health Centres (PHCs). Each team consists of two Asha workers, one ANM under each PHC, while one medical officer will supervise two such teams. And there will be five programme officers to monitor the execution of the project in the district as of now.
The MPDO and Thasildhar of the respective mandals will extend their support to the medical department in the execution of the project,” he said, adding that the health profile of a total of 2,18, 852 people above 18 years of age would be prepared as a part of the project. Though the stipulated time for completion of the pilot project in the district is one-and-a-half month, sources in the health department said that the deadline would be extended as they were focusing on quality rather than completing the project quickly. Collector S Krishna Aditya also held a meeting with the special officers, Panchayat Raj and Revenue Department besides the Medical and Health department on Wednesday and directed them to visit the houses of the people as per the voter list and take the necessary steps to upload the data online.
It may be added here that the State government, which is striving to improve the quality of life of the people by providing the health facilities, conceived the plans to prepare the Health Profile of all the people in the State. As a part of it, it had chosen Mulugu and Rajanna-Sircilla districts to take up the project on pilot basis. Though it was planned to launch the project in the first week of last December, it was postponed due to administering the vaccine jabs to the people against the Covid-19.
Health details of each person above 18 years would be collected for the profiling, such as blood pressure readings, sugar levels, weight, diseases one is suffering from. Besides this, Aadhaar number, demographic details too will also be gathered to maintain a data bank on the health issues of the people in the State. This data is uploaded online using the tab or smartphone given to the medical team members.
The health information of people who undergo tests would be stored in digital form in a cloud which would be assessed through the cloud storage when a person visits hospitals, or if anyone who met with accidents is in need of medical attention, and the data can also help to know if a health ailment or complication is being reported the most in any part of the State, the kind of medical services needed in a region, medicines, specialist doctors and medical devices needed there, and thus help the State government to take steps to improve or provide health facilities for the people of a particular region. “We have successfully conducted the vaccination programme against the Covid-19 in the district, and I hope that this pilot project will also be finished successfully,” said Collector Krishna Aditya.
