Alwal Runners’ Club holds ‘Saree Run’
About 25 women including athletes, randonneurs, practicing doctors, management professionals, yoga instructors, homemakers and others were part of the celebrations

Hyderabad: Alwal Runners’ Club (ARC), which is working to promote fitness in the surrounding areas, conducted a ‘Saree Run’ from Rashtrapathi Nilayam to Lothkunta, as part of the International Women’s Day Celebrations.
About 25 women including athletes, randonneurs, practicing doctors, management professionals, yoga instructors, homemakers and others were part of the celebrations.
“We wanted to say that wearing a saree or the type of profession we are in is not an impediment to fitness,” said Deepthi Vijayakumar, one of the organisers of the event.
Set up an year ago, ARC, which is powered by Hyderabad Runners’ Club, has trained many to complete runs including 5km, 10km and half marathons, said its chief mentor, Apoorba Kumar adding that club’s flagship long run will be planned shortly.
