Kairos Global School organised ‘Athlon -the sports meet’ for students of classes I to V recently. The event commenced with a march past and Olympic torch relay, which was followed by the hoisting of the flag. Principal Srilakshmi Merapala spoke about the integral place of sports in the curriculum and the plethora of advantages it brings along.

School chairman Dr. M Venkata Reddy shared words of wisdom with the students and declared the sports meet open by releasing balloons. The young participants watched with wonder and amazement as the balloons soared high, symbolising their high aspirations and dreams.

After immense hard work and grueling practice sessions by the students, it was the day for them to shine. Every child participated in several sports events ranging from 50 m races, 100 m races, obstacle races to grooving to the energising beats of Zumba. The school ensured active involvement of the parents as well and they earnestly took part in the fun events and races and showed exemplary sportsmanship. The air buzzed with excitement and thrill. It was a feast for the eyes to see the determined students give their best to reach the finishing line. The spectators were enthralled seeing such a passionate display of zeal and enthusiasm.

The young achievers were awarded gold and bronze medals by the chairman, who highly appreciated each sportstar. The winning parents were given trophies for their performances. The principal concluded the ceremony by applauding every participant for their inimitable spirit and declared the meet close. Athlon had the right mix of fun, competition, performance and team spirit while the students learnt about triumphs and perseverance.
