Hyderabad: It was a unique concept, ‘One Move Can Change A Life’, initiated by the Andhra Chess Association, as part of the World Chess Day celebrations (on July 20), when an event was organised at the Government Children’s Home for boys in Visakhapatnam.
This is part of the week-long celebrations by the ACA in collaboration with its partner organisations, conducting programs across various districts.
As part of this initiative, Suresh Adusumilli, President of ACA, visited the Government Children’s Home to distribute chessboards and educational materials under the special theme “One Move Can Change a Life”, as part of the ‘Chess for Everyone’ campaign.
This initiative aims to introduce the game of chess to underprivileged children, focusing on enhancing their memory, decision-making, and rational thinking skills. Chess is recognised as a powerful tool to instil discipline and promote cognitive development among young minds.
The ACA has pledged long-term support for this initiative and Suresh affirmed the Association’s commitment to continue providing chessboards and learning resources to all children at the Home.
“Chess brings a positive shift in mindset. It calms the mind and opens new possibilities. This project gives these children a chance to spread their wings,” said P. Santosh, Founder of Ken Foundation, which is actively collaborating on this effort.
“We thank Ramana, Superintendent of the Government Children’s Home for Boys, Visakhapatnam, for his wholehearted support in facilitating the launch of this impactful program in partnership with the Andhra Chess Association and Ken Foundation,” the ACA officials said.
