Hyderabad: Around 100 students belonging to BBA LLB and LLB programmes at KL Deemed-to-be University, Andhra Pradesh, in association with AP Legal Services Authority recently conducted a two-day survey on living conditions and problems faced by people of three villages adopted by the university in Guntur.
The objective of the survey which covered over 800 people was to ensure that the villages were made litigation-free via free legal aid, arbitrations, conciliation processes and awareness services. The initiative started off with a door-to-door survey, where relevant data was obtained, analysed, and classified by the students.
Over 230 pressing problems faced by villagers were identified. The problems were classified into five categories – health, infrastructure, familial, financial and legal issues. It included problems faced by farmers, elderly citizens having trouble with receiving timely pensions, long-awaited divorce and death certificates, and sanitation among others, the KL University said.
Post research findings, students assisted by four mentors from the university secured a written assurance from the Secretaries of the three villages to address the common concerns at once, it said.
The study was aimed to utilise the results to provide feedback on the present state of the rural areas and facilitate effective administrative mechanisms yielding benefits to the villagers, it added.
