Hyderabad: Grandmaster Hanshi Shaswat Kumar of India has been conferred with the prestigious “Pioneer & Most Successful Martial Artist from India & Legend of Indian Karate Award” by Grand Master Miroslav Charlie Pavlovi, Founder of Empi-Kai Martial Arts Association, Serbia.
“This rare honour has been awarded in recognition of Grandmaster Shaswat Kumar’s extraordinary achievements, lifelong dedication, and remarkable contribution to the growth and promotion of Karate at the global level.”
From his childhood, Shaswat Kumar was determined to do something for his nation through Karate. He went on to become a five-time consecutive National Karate Champion, and later achieved glory by winning gold at the International Karate Championship.
According to him, Senkoukai Karate stands apart from other Japanese Karate styles because it places a stronger emphasis on self-defence. While India largely follows WKF (sports karate), Senkoukai Karate promotes the path of full-contact Karate, offering a powerful and practical approach to martial arts.
“Senkoukai Karate has grown into an international style with branches in many countries across the world. It is proudly recognised as India’s own Karate style, which has quickly earned respect and popularity on the global stage,” Shaswat said.
Through this, Grandmaster Hanshi Shaswat Kumar has established himself as one of the most well-known and successful Karate masters from India, bringing honour and recognition to the nation worldwide.
Shaswat Kumar is also among the most respected disciples of Grandmaster Watanabe and currently serves as the International Chief Instructor of WSKF.
The award ceremony took place under the authority of Empi-Kai Martial Arts Association (E.K.M.A.A.), Serbia, today.
