Mancherial: Mancherial Collector Bharati Hollikeri has said artificial limbs, retrofitted motorised vehicles, battery wheelchairs and other prosthetic aids will be given to specially-abled persons.
Hollikeri was the chief guest of a two-day medical camp held for the specially-abled persons at the ZPHS grounds here on Monday. The camp was organised by the Department of Women, Children, Disable and Senior Citizens’ Welfare for the first time.
Hollikeri said the department was providing aids to specially-abled persons and advised the needy to utilise the opportunity. Measurements of artificial limbs required for the participants were recorded and aids would be extended to them shortly.
District Welfare Officer Rauf Khan said 180 applications had been received seeking battery wheelchairs aids, 24 for artificial limbs and four for callipers on the website of the department so far. He added that the vehicles and aids would be distributed to the eligible applicants soon.
Mancherial Municipality Vice-Chairperson G Mukesh Goud and Velugu Foundation founder president Madupu Ramprakash were present.
