Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Final rites of the tribal girl Pasula Nirmala, who was killed by a tiger, was held at Kondapalli village in Penchikalpet mandal on Monday.
Family members and relatives of Nirmala, members of the tribal community and leaders of tribal rights organisations bid a teary adieu to the girl. Nirmala’s mother Pasula Lasmakka was devastated by the news of her daughter’s death. A procession was taken out carrying the body from her residence to their agriculture field where the body was buried at around 11 am.
Breadwinner
Family members and relatives recalled that she was the breadwinner of the family. They said she took up the responsibility of running the family as her father was addicted to consuming liquor and was staying idle.
“Nirmala used to travel to certain towns in search of livelihood. They were relying on her in many ways. She was a workaholic. Parents were planning to perform Nirmala’s wedding soon,” Ramakka, her aunt, recounted.
Earlier, Zilla Parishad Vice-Chairperson Koneru Krishna Rao extended Rs 15,000 monetary aid to the kin of the girl helping the family in performing final rites. He said steps were being taken to extend additional ex gratia to the kin at the earliest. He stated that legislator Koneru Konappa would give away compensation of Rs 5 lakh to her parents on December 2.
