Hyderabad: General physicians and seasonal disease experts from Aster Prime Hyderabad are reporting a sharp rise in cases of fever across the twin cities.
Along with common viral fevers, cases of malaria, dengue, typhoid, and chikungunya are also being reported. In this backdrop, rushing to the pharmacy and using over-the-counter medications without medical advice can often be ineffective and, at times, dangerous, the doctors said.
To address such concerns, Aster Prime Hospital on Thursday launched a special 24/7 Fever Clinic along with day-care services at its premises in Ameerpet.
“Currently, we’re seeing a surge in cases of malaria, typhoid, dengue, chikungunya, vomiting, and diarrhea. We advise people to minimise travel during this time and maintain good hygiene such as washing hands before eating or drinking, wearing masks in crowded places, using mosquito screens, and avoiding water stagnation to prevent mosquito breeding,” Dr Harikumar Reddy, Cluster CEO of Aster DM Healthcare, in a press release said.
If symptoms like high fever, body aches, vomiting, fatigue, cough, cold, or sore throat persist, it is advised to seek immediate care. Patients with all major monsoon-related illnesses such as dengue, malaria, chikungunya (mosquito-borne), typhoid, cholera, diarrhea (waterborne), cold, flu, and viral fevers must seek medical attention, Dr Reddy said.
