Hyderabad: Family members of the security guard, who was shot dead during the ATM robbery at Kukatpally last week, demanded severe punishment to the suspects, apart from requesting financial assistance from the government.
An ex-CRPF havildar, Mirza Subhan Ali Baig (71), was working as a security guard with a cash management agency and was shot dead when a robber opened fire at him at the ATM centre in Kukatpally. Baig, who was shot in the abdomen, was declared brought dead at the hospital.
“Usually if the amount being transported is huge, there are two armed guards with the van. For some reason, that day there was only one guard was present. That needs to be probed,” said Abdul Hameed, Baig’s son-in-law.
Baig is survived by his wife, six daughters and three sons. “After four days, the company officials contacted me and told me that they would write to their Mumbai office about the incident. We demand the police to probe the negligence on part of the cash management company,” he said and asked the State government to ensure strict punishment for the robbers. The family also requested the State government for financial support as two of Baig’s sons are without work since the lockdown last year.
