Hyderabad: BC Welfare Minister G Kamalakar said all the Backward Castes should form a trust and a unanimous resolution should be passed to this effect. A copy of the resolution should be sent to the Government before November 17 to facilitate government expedite the construction of BC Atma Gaurava Bhavans, he said.
The government was prepared to construct the BC Atma Gaurava Bhavans or hand over the land to the trusts for constructing the structures. This will be finalized based on the Backward castes’ decisions, he said.
As the Bhavans should be constructed as per the caste-based occupations, arrangements would be made accordingly, the Minister said at a press conference here on Tuesday. A two-day workshop was organised for representatives of different castes to discuss and finalise different aspects.
Construction of Atma Gaurava Bhavans pertaining to 41 castes should commence by January or February, he said adding “No other State Governments were constructing such bhavans for the welfare of BCs,” Telangana Government had set up 282 BC Gurukuls across the State and was offering free education to over lakh students, he added.
In the past, when a small piece of land was sought for construction of exclusive halls for BCs, governments used to reject the applications with disdain. Now, Telangana Government was constructing Atma Gaurava Bhavans across the State for the upliftment of BCs, pointed out Excise Minister V Srinivas Goud.
“Over Rs.4, 000 crore worth lands were being offered for free to the BCs by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. More so, works are set to commence in a couple of months,” said Srinivas Goud.
Construction of these structures will be completed as per schedule without compromising on the quality, he added.
Animal Husbandry Minister T Srinivas Yadav charged that many parties had considered BCs as their vote banks but failed to initiate measures for their welfare and development. “Already 60 per cent of the Golla and Kuruma Bhavans’ construction has been completed,” said Srinivas Yadav and appealed to the people to make good use of the opportunity extended by the Government.
