Kothagudem: The contract and outsourcing workers serving in sanitation, patient care, security and other wings at Bhadrachalam Government Area Hospital were not being paid for the past five months.

Led by CITU Bhadrachalam town convener MB Narsa Reddy the workers have submitted a memorandum to the ITDA PO, B Rahul on Monday. As many as 100 workers were facing severe financial difficulties as salaries have been pending for the past five months, they complained.

The workers have taken the matter to the attention of the hospital superintendent and DCHS, ITDA PO and district Collector many times but the issue has not been resolved yet. The workers were unable to buy new clothes for their children to celebrate the Sankranti festival, the CITU leader said.

Because of the negligence of the contractor the workers’ families were forced to go without food on the festival day. The Congress government was cheating the workers by boasting and making false promises. It promised to clear the salary dues of all contract workers, but in vain, Narsa Reddy alleged.

He warned that if the government does not come to its senses and solve the workers’ wages and other issues, the government and its officials would be held responsible for future developments.

The PO, Rahul assured the workers that the contract of the current contract agency, which was acting negligently in paying the workers’ wages, would be canceled and a new agency would be given the contract.

Narsa Reddy asserted that if the issue was not resolved forthwith, the workers would go on an indefinite strike. CITU leaders Nagaraju, Hospital Workers union leaders Rama, Venkata Ramana, Kumari, Sarita, Mehboob and others were present.
