Karimnagar: e-Panchayat computer operators are facing problems due to the non-payment of salaries during the last four months. Despite their repeated representations to officials, there has been no response from the government. Computer operators’ salaries have been pending since October 2025.
In order to speed up services in gram panchayats, the previous government introduced the e-Panchayat system in 2014-15 and appointed computer operators on an outsourcing basis. While seniors are being paid a salary of Rs 22,750, juniors get Rs 19,500. They have been deployed in gram panchayats which have computer facilities and in Mandal Parishad offices. About 1,579 computer operators and project managers are working across the state.
They play a vital role in tax collection, recording births and deaths and issuing certificates, recording income and expenditure details, giving permissions for house constructions, mutation, recording the State and Central governments’ expenditures, government schemes, and corrections in the voter list. They had been paid salaries regularly when the Central government’s funds were directly deposited in gram panchayat accounts.
Computer operators’ union leaders said that operators were facing severe financial problems due to the non-payment of salaries during the last four months. They urged the government to take the initiative to clear the pending salaries of operators. They also wanted the government to give salaries to operators through a special grant by implementing the junior assistant pay scale.
Besides providing health insurance facilities, they demanded compassionate jobs for the family members of deceased operators. Though they have been working for over a decade, there is no job guarantee and adequate salary. They opined that the government should treat operators as government employees and provide them with necessary facilities.
