Salary delay hits 19,000 families of NAM, NHM workers in Telangana
Contract employees working under the National AYUSH Mission and National Health Mission in Telangana have not received salaries for three to four months, affecting nearly 19,000 families. Workers say the delay has forced many to take loans to manage household expenses.
Hyderabad: Contract employees working under the National AYUSH Mission (NAM) in Telangana are facing severe financial distress, having gone without salaries for the past four months.
Reports have indicated that even the contract workers under National Health Mission (NHM) have not received their salaries for the past three to four months.
The lack of salaries has impacted nearly 19,000 families, which includes both NHM and NAM contract staff, in Telangana.
NAM contract workers said the staff involved in implementing health initiatives and duties across various health programmes and daily monitoring, staff members from the State Programme Management Unit (SPMU) and District Programme Management Units (DPMUs) have not received their pay since November.
The salary crisis has impacted personnel across all 33 districts of the State. While 27 DPMUs have permanent appointments, six districts continue to function with in-charge officers. In addition to the management units, nearly 601 part-time yoga instructors are also struggling without pay for the same four-month period.
Employees expressed frustration, noting that while they are consistently pushed to meet targets for health camps and digital attendance monitoring, their basic financial needs remain ignored. “We are unable to pay our children’s school fees or meet monthly household expenses. Many of us are being forced to take private loans just to survive,” a AYUSH staff member said.
