Kothagudem: CPI(M) Central Committee member Tammineni Veerabhadram accused the BJP of politicising the Indian Army’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ and said the Centre was unable to confirm how many Pakistani terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack were neutralised.
Addressing the media on Saturday, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi failed to answer Opposition members in Parliament when they sought clarification on former US President Donald Trump’s claim that he prevented a war between India and Pakistan. “This itself is proof of Modi’s failure,” he remarked.
Veerabhadram also pointed out that Trump, despite being called a friend by Modi, imposed a 25 percent tariff on Indian goods. He criticised the Centre for signing a zero-tariff agreement with Britain, warning that it could seriously affect Indian agricultural products and goods in the future.
He added that the Supreme Court had expressed displeasure over the removal of voters in Bihar and alleged that the Election Commission and BJP were targeting Muslim and Christian voters.
The CPI(M) leader also criticised Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for not fulfilling poll promises. He said the party might contest the local body elections alone, depending on the prevailing political situation.
Meanwhile, party State executive member P Sudarshan urged BJP State president Ramchander Rao to focus on bringing back the five villages merged with Andhra Pradesh. He also called on BJP leaders to protect the Bhadradri temple, which he said was under threat due to the Polavaram project in its current form.
Sudarshan mocked the repeated inaugurations of the Sitarama project by district ministers and demanded that the project be built according to its original design. Otherwise, he warned, the party would launch protests along with farmers from erstwhile Khammam and Mahabubabad districts.
