Blood donation marks road safety week in Telangana’s Mancherial
A total of 53 units of blood raised during the camp; owners of vehicles and drivers voluntarily took part in the programme and gave their blood for the cause
Mancherial: Collector Kumar Deepak, along with DCP A Bhaskar, inaugurated a blood donation and eyesight screening camp organised by the Road Transport Authority in association with the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Mancherial chapter here as part of the ongoing road safety week on Thursday.
Deepak was all praise for officials of the RTA for conducting the blood donation camp. He opined that the blood would be given to victims of road accidents and medical emergencies. He advised the public to follow road safety norms. He told motorists to wear helmets while riding two-wheelers and not to indulge in drunk driving.
The Collector stated that road mishaps were contributing to a major portion of human deaths every year. In-charge RTO Santosh Kumar, who was present at the programme, said that the authority was creating awareness among the people by conducting meetings in colleges and schools using experts. He stressed the need to follow road safety norms.
