Karimnagar: Collector RV Karnan on Saturday said that besides enhancing knowledge, book reading will help building a healthy society. He emphasised the need to educate the students about it. He released wallposters of a book fair to be organised on the occasion of International Women’s Day from March 2 to 8 at Jyothibha Phule grounds here.
Speaking on the occasion, Karnan instructed officials to display books in big numbers in the book fair wherein 50 stalls would be arranged. He wanted the organisers to conduct a book fair, which would be held from 11 am to 8 pm, to attract book lovers and advised to display the books of different subjects.
Besides high school, students of all government and private schools should visit the book fair, he said and instructed the district education officer (DEO) to ensure the same.
Besides arranging food stalls with different varieties of Telangana dishes, cultural programmes and other programmes with writers should also be organised every day, he instructed. He directed organisers to conduct celebrations in a big way at book fair dais on the occasion of Internal Women Day on March 8.
Earlier, the Collector examined the ground wherein book fare would be organized. Additional Collectors GV Shyamprasad Lal, and Garima Agarwal, Assistant Collector Mayank Mittal, District Welfare Officer Padmavathi, DEO Janardhan Rao, Hyderabad Book Fair General Secretary Chandramohan, Karimnagar Book Fair Co-ordinator Satish and others were present.
