BRS alleges Congress-BJP extortion for building permissions in Cantonment area
BRS spokesperson Manne Krishank has alleged collusion between Congress MLA Sri Ganesh and BJP nominee Banuka Narmada to extort bribes for construction approvals in Secunderabad Cantonment.
Hyderabad: BRS spokesperson Manne Krishank on Thursday accused Congress MLA Sri Ganesh and BJP-nominated member Banuka Narmada of colluding to extort money from people seeking house construction approvals in the Secunderabad Cantonment.
He said the Cantonment Board recently approved a mortgage clause mandating a 10 per cent mortgage of built-up area for even plots measuring 111 sq. mtrs, even though it is mandatory only for plots above 200 sq. mtrs.
Unlike GHMC’s TS-bPASS, Krishank said building permissions are approved in the Cantonment area only after the Board resolutions are passed. He said that as a result, permissions in the Cantonment are often subject to political intervention.
With no elected Board since 2014-15, the BRS leader stated that applicants are forced to appease the Congress MLA and BJP nominee to avoid hurdles, leading to corruption. He demanded that the mortgaging clause be withheld until fresh elections are held and proper by-laws framed.
