BRS alleges Congress govt defied HC order on GO disclosure

The BRS has filed a contempt petition, alleging that the Congress government failed to comply with a High Court directive to publish all Government Orders. The party claimed thousands of GOs remain undisclosed, raising concerns over transparency and compliance with the Right to Information Act

Hyderabad: The BRS on Wednesday accused the Congress government of violating a High Court directive by failing to place thousands of Government Orders (GOs) in the public domain. The party filed a contempt petition before the High Court over the issue.

Speaking to the media at Telangana Bhavan, BRS leader Errolla Srinivas said the government issued 19,064 GOs between December 7, 2023, and January 25, 2025, but uploaded only 3,290, leaving 15,774 undisclosed. He stated that despite a court order directing all GOs to be made public within eight weeks, no action had been initiated.

Accusing the Congress government of disregarding judicial directions, he said the BRS approached the court seeking transparency. Contrasting it with the previous BRS government, he said GO No. 4, issued in 2015 under then Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, had mandated the proactive disclosure of all GOs.

Srinivas said appointments without Cabinet rank and undisclosed land-related GOs had raised questions over transparency in governance. Urging the government to comply with the court’s directions immediately, he warned that officials could face contempt proceedings if the orders continued to be withheld. He also accused the Congress government of acting contrary to the spirit of the Right to Information Act by failing to make the GOs public.
