Hyderabad: BRS MLA K Sanjay accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of indulging in diversion politics and enacting new dramas to deflect attention from the Congress government’s failures and issues plaguing people. Ahead of the budget session of the State Assembly, he demanded that the government stop attention-diversion politics and gear up for discussion on people’s issues.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Monday, Sanjay stated that the Chief Minister failed to speak about municipal development under the Congress regime either before or after the urban local bodies’ elections. He said SIT notices were issued to senior BRS leaders, including former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, KT Rama Rao and T Harish Rao, ahead of elections, were part of a calculated political strategy to shift focus.
He stated that instead of speaking about the development, Revanth Reddy resorted to abusing of the BRS chief. “The Chief Minister is stooping to new lows by alleging BRS and BJP nexus, and comparing them with Telugu conjoined twins who are struggling with their lives,” he remarked.
The BRS MLA objected to selective action in defection cases. He pointed out that while a Congress municipal councillor in Asifabad was disqualified for switching parties, no action was taken against 10 BRS MLAs who switched to the Congress and also campaigned for the Congress in local body polls.
He also questioned the outcome of the Chief Minister’s recent visit to Davos, stating that no details were shared on investments secured for the State.
Sanjay demanded that the opposition be given adequate time to speak during the upcoming budget session. He urged the government to allocate funds in the upcoming budget and fulfill promises made to women, farmers and unemployed youth. He also called for a detailed discussion on irrigation projects, including Devadula and Kaleshwaram, during the session. He asserted that the Assembly must function transparently and allow debate on people’s issues.
