Hyderabad: The BRS intensified its attack on the Congress government for allegedly using the proposed HILT policy to facilitate the country’s biggest land scam. The main opposition party also accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of turning governance into a real estate exercise.

Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan said the HILT policy was designed to benefit select private interests and enable the large-scale transfer of land assets. He said a Rs 6 lakh crore racket was being operated under the policy and alleged that insider trading was taking place.

He demanded criminal cases be registered against the Chief Minister and announced that the BRS would soon release a detailed charge sheet on the policy. He cautioned that the Ministers in the State Cabinet, as well as the officials concerned, shared collective responsibility for the policy decisions being taken by the Chief Minister.

Sravan alleged that private lands were being acquired through pressure tactics on common citizens in the name of the proposed Future City project. He also questioned the government’s decision to auction prime government lands, including parcels in Hyderabad, and accused the administration of prioritising land monetisation over public welfare.

BRS Assembly Whip KP Vivekanand said the Congress government had failed to fulfil its electoral promises after two-and-a-half years in office and was relying on land sales to manage its finances. He stated that government lands worth nearly Rs 12,000 crore had been sold during the Congress regime and demanded an explanation of how those funds were being utilised.

He said the HILT policy was designed to benefit select private interests and sought disclosure of all decisions related to land transactions under the scheme. He alleged that the government was attempting to transfer valuable lands under the policy.
