The Telangana High Court has directed several MLAs accused of defecting from the BRS to the Congress to file their counters by May 6. The order came during hearings on petitions filed by BRS legislators seeking disqualification of defectors.
Qutbullapur MLA KP Vivekanand alleged that Kadiyam Srihari misled the Speaker on his defection and would face consequences in court. He criticised Srihari’s conduct during the hearing as vague and against party interests
BRS whip KP Vivekanand expressed confidence that 10 turncoat legislators would be disqualified, making elections inevitable. After appearing before the Speaker in the Kadiyam Srihari case, he said the party would approach the courts once a decision is taken.
The Speaker will hear the disqualification petition filed against Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari on Wednesday. The notice was served on Monday, while a decision is still pending on the case involving Jagtial MLA Dr Sanjay Kumar.
