Hyderabad: BRS leader A Rakesh Reddy on Monday demanded immediate action from Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over allegations of moving Kodelu (bulls) from Sri Rajarajeswara Swamy temple at Vemulawada to slaughterhouses. Calling it a grave offense, he demanded for the dismissal of Endowments Minister Konda Surekha and a judicial inquiry into the incident.
Speaking to mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan on Sunday, Rakesh Reddy accused Surekha and her followers of exploiting temple assets for personal gain. “Vemulawada Temple, renowned for its ‘Kode Mokku’ tradition, has been disrespected by these actions. Around 60 bulls were moved to slaughterhouses linked to Surekha,” he alleged.
The BRS leader called for the arrests of all involved under the PD Act and criticised the Congress government for its alleged misuse of temple funds. He warned of protests if swift action was not taken.
“The temple funds amounting to Rs 2 crore were spent for the Congress public meeting in Vemulawada, while ignoring temple upkeep. Such behaviour is a curse for the people. The Congress government’s apathy is unacceptable,” he added.
