Hyderabad: Demanding the Congress government to make public the names of every beneficiary being allotted prime industrial land for non industrial purposes in Hyderabad under the new HILTP, BRS leader and former minister, G. Jagadish Reddy alleged that the new policy was devised for the sake of some 40 members of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s family and his close associates.
Addressing a news conference at Telangana Bhavan, he said the State needs to know the names of every primary beneficiary of the new Industrial land transfer policy for whose sake the chief minister ventured to risk the fate of the government.
“Our only demand is, make public the names of everyone who has been allotted land,” he said.
“The Congress government that is out on a demolition spree depriving thousands of families of their shelter as part of the Musi beautification project is now ready to give thousands of crores worth of public land to Revanth Reddy’s relatives,” Reddy charged.
He contrasted the Congress policy with the previous BRS regime, stating that under the K Chanrashekhar Rao government, lands were reserved for public welfare – parks, hospitals, lung spaces – and never alienated for private gain.
“During our time, almost all the cabinet ministers, including K. T. Rama Rao, T. Harish Rao and I, remained committed steadfast to decisions to protect industrial lands,” he said.
Reddy warned that once BRS returns to power, “whoever the thieves are, we will not spare them” and all illegally transferred properties will be returned to the public. The BRS leader demanded that the government immediately disclose the complete list of allottees under the HILTP policy.
The Congress government has defended the HILTP policy as a measure to revive stalled industries and generate employment and denied any wrongdoing or favoritism in the allotment process. But the ground reality is different, he said, accusing Revanth Reddy government of unfolding “world’s biggest land scam” under HILTP Policy and terms said the government policy which the Congress leaders claim to be a ‘landmark Initiative” was turning out to be a “land scam initiative”.
It is designed to hand over thousands of acres of prime government land in Hyderabad at throw away prices. Approximately 10,000 to 20,000 acres of valuable government land is being transferred at grossly undervalued rates.
While market rates in areas like Nacharam and Balanagar are RS 1.5 lakh per square yard and land near the ORR recently fetched Rs 137 crore per acre, the government is allegedly allotting land at just Rs 10,000 per square yard.
For every acre, the government is losing Rs 50– Rs 70 crore in potential revenue, whereas select beneficiaries stand to gain Rs 30 crore per acre, he said, adding that the policy was rushed with an unusually short seven-day application window and a 45-day payment deadline, which Jagadish Reddy described as ‘the speed of thieves looting public property’.
